DHAKA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese medical team is set to arrive in Dhaka Thursday evening to treat the injured from a plane crash that happened in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, on Monday.
"At the request of the interim government of Bangladesh, the Chinese Emergency Medical Team consisting of five burn-specialist doctors and nurses will arrive in Dhaka on the evening of Thursday," the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh said Thursday.
The team will visit the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery to provide all necessary assistance and assessment, it added.
According to the Chinese embassy, at the request of the Bangladeshi side, Yunnan Province of China urgently organized a team of experts from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University to conduct a remote video consultation with the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of Bangladesh on Thursday morning.
Chinese experts in burn treatment, plastic surgery, pediatric nephrology and pediatric respiratory medicine joined Bangladeshi doctors to assess the conditions of several critically injured patients from the recent military aircraft crash and jointly discussed treatment plans, it said.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Air Force aircraft involved in a routine training flight took off from the A.K. Khandaker Air Base in Kurmitola, Dhaka, at 1:06 p.m. local time and crashed shortly later into a two-storey school building on Monday.
Data from the press wing of the chief adviser of Bangladeshi Interim Government shows that 29 people had died in the tragedy so far and 57 injured victims are now undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka.
